PORT BREWING AND THE LOST ABBEY CELEBRATES ITS 7TH ANNIVERSARY
A celebration to commemorate 7 years will take place May 4th at The Lost Abbey/Port Brewing Tasting Room in Southern California.
The crusade The Lost Abbey and Port Brewing embarked on to fight the good fight and make amazing beer, turns seven on May 4th, 2013. To celebrate the milestone and the joys of the journey, we’ll be hosting a two-session Anniversary Party at The Lost Abbey/ Port Brewing Tasting Room in San Marcos, CA (155 Mata Way).
The guest of honor at the party will be the massively hoppy 7th iteration of Port Brewing’s Anniversary Ale. Brewed with Columbus, Amarillo and Simcoe and dry-hopped with Columbus, Amarillo and Citra (a new addition this year) hops, Anniversary Ale has pleasant tones of citrus and pine, a screaming hops presence and just enough malt character to add a hint of sweetness. Port Brewing’s Anniversary Ale comes in at 10% ABV and will be available at the brewery on-draft and through distribution on-draft and 22oz bottles later this month.
Additionally, the Anniversary Party will feature special taps of Framboise de Amorosa (Raspberry Sour & American-Style Sour silver medal award-winner at the 2011 Great American Beer Festival), Deliverance (a blend of Bourbon barrel-aged Serpents Stout and Brandy barrel-aged Angel’s Share), Red Poppy (Flanders Red Ale with sour cherries) and Angel’s Share (Bourbon barrel-aged English-style Barleywine).
“Our Anniversary Party is one of the highlights for us each year” said Director of Brewing Operations Tomme Arthur. “It gives us a chance to celebrate our successes with our most passionate fans”.
Thursday’s are our favorite! We get to start thinking about the weekend and what we’re going to do, what we’re going to eat and most importantly, what we’re going to drink!
We’re going to start posting some of our favorite food/beer combos to help make those decisions easier… this week we paired a feta/fruit salad, Roquefort Cheese and Pepperoni Hot Pocket… Cheers!
On Wednesday, April 17th, Tomme and the crew from All About Beer Magazine finish up their Ultimate Box Set tasting with tracks #7 – #13. Starting at 11am pst, head to lostabbey.com and check out the live feed. If you happen to have a question for Tomme, tweet us @lostabbey. Cheers!
April 7th was the 2nd Annual SPY Belgian Waffle Ride (SPY BWR) which began and ended at the SPY HQ off of Palomar Airport Road. 350 (insane) Riders suffered through 209 Kilometers (130 miles) of various terrain leading through Fallbrook and Bonsall to Escondido and Lake Hodges, venturing back to the promised land of Carlsbad.
Our one-and-only Lost Abbey “Team Rider” Karl Bordine, finished this year’s trek in 3rd Place as well as The Sprint Award for fastest times on the sprint segments.
A great day overall, especially when it ended with a well-deserved Lost Abbey beer after a long ride.
Celebrate our 7th birthday with beer, food and a few of our closest friends!
To celebrate our 7th year of existence, we’re going back to our roots… Long gone are the anniversary parties that were focused on pony rides and balloon animals. We’re not going to bore you with lame card tricks and annoying roaming magicians looking for tips. (though last year’s magician has yet to re-appear from his disappearing act)
This year’s 7th Anniversary party is all about GOOD BEER. We’re filling every one of our taps with beers both new and properly aged. We’re also bringing back our “Vintage Case” and filling that to the brim with some tasty “tracks”… umm… we mean beers… Tasty beers.
We also thought we’d compliment this awesome selection of beer with four of our favorite food trucks! Devilicious, Red Oven Artisanal Pizza, Hoangies and Oscar’s Meat Pies. Each truck will have a dish paired with a select Lost Abbey or Port beers put together by our “Goddess of Paring”, Gwen.
So there you have it! Beer, Food, Friends…and we’ll even throw in some face painting… It’s our party and we’ll paint our face if we want to!
This will be a ticketed event; tickets will go on sale on 4/20 at 10am at www.lostabbey.com. They’re $20 per person and $25 day of… Though we’ve never actually had any tickets available on the day of, just an FYI.
What are the career opportunities in San Diego’s burgeoning brewing industry? Job seekers will learn the answers from a panel of experts who will converse about why San Diego has become such a nationally renowned region for craft beer production and where the professional brewing industry is headed. The panel discussion is being captured for broadcast by UCTV Career Channel as part of the opening of the San Diego History Center exhibition Bottled & Kegged: San Diego’s Craft Brew Culture, which explores the ebb and flow of beer production in the San Diego region. The exhibit features many hands-on interactive elements that help explain: the brewing process, how San Diego County brewers achieve such expansive flavor profiles, and the science behind matching beers with food.
