Jolly St. Nick makes his way back to the Port Brewing and The Lost Abbey Tasting Room for the 7th Annual release of Bourbon Barrel-aged Santa’s Little Helper (Port Brewing’s Imperial Stout) and a Christmas in July celebration to benefit the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation on Saturday, July 18th, 2015. To date, Christmas in July has raised over $15,000 dollars and collected over 10,000 toys for the Toys for Tots program.
Regardless of how you’ve acted so far this year, Christmas in July is the perfect opportunity to show the fat man in the red suit that you deserve more than a lump of coal… as long as you bring an unwrapped toy (valued at $15 or more) you’re in! Does your automatonophobia make it impossible to shop in a toy store? Not a problem, for just $15 at the door you’re set to join us for food, fun, entertainment and photos with Santa all included! (This is a family-friendly event). As in previous years, the event will be split in two sessions: 11:00am – 3:00pm and 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
The Port Brewing and Lost Abbey “Giving Tree” will also be making an appearance, for an extra donation to Toys for Tots, you’ll receive a gift from the tree. Gifts can include rare and vintage bottles, Port Brewing / Lost Abbey gear, tickets to our legendary Barrel Night during San Diego Beer Week and some goodies from our friends around San Diego!
All of The Lost Abbey and Port Brewing’s full core lineup of beers plus plenty of specialty taps will be available (full tap list released as we get closer). 2015 marks the 7th year we’ve released a Bourbon barrel-aged version of our Imperial Stout, Santa’s Little Helper. A robust beer with tones of sweet malt, dark cocoa and notes of deep bourbon, Santa’s Little Helper is the perfect accompaniment to fruitcake during a California Christmas in July. Bourbon barrel-aged Santa’s Little Helper will hit the full Port Brewing Distribution Network in late July in 375ml cork-finished bottles and limited draft.

Several of our brewers and packaging staff proudly served this country in the Armed Forces, and that’s something we take great pride in. As the cold winter months start to creep in and the temperatures begin to dip, our thoughts go to those that fought bravely for The United States but have since fallen on hard times.
Beginning now till the end of January, we’ll be teaming up with the San Marcos Veteran Center and collecting canned food and clothing (warm gear, new socks and underwear) at The Lost Abbey Tasting Room for our US Veterans in need.
Further expanding their reach in the state of Pennsylvania, Port Brewing and The Lost Abbey have announced they’ve signed with distributor Wilson-McGinley to cover the Pittsburgh market. “We certainly did our homework and due diligence to find the right wholesaler partner to represent our brands in the Western PA region” said Brian Sauls, National Sales Manager for Port Brewing and The Lost Abbey. “We feel Wilson-McGinley represents the same core values as Lost Abbey / Port Brewing and that contagious passion and enthusiasm for great craft beer, shared with our current amazing group of distributors, makes this a partnership we are looking forward to.”
The Pittsburgh market will slowly begin to receive the full lineup of core and seasonal beers from both Port Brewing and Lost Abbey, with the goal to have the full portfolio by next fall. To celebrate the new partnership, Chief Operating Owner Tomme Arthur will head out to Pittsburgh following San Diego Beer Week for a week of events throughout the market. Full press release here (PDF)
