Online Bottle Sales To Commence For California

We’re excited to announce that we will be expanding our selection of bottles available online at shop.lostabbeydev.wpengine.com. For the past few months, we’ve had bottles available online, but with very little attention or promotion as we worked out the logistics to properly handle the orders. With those processes worked out, we will now be adding more limited beers on a monthly basis that are able to be shipped anywhere in the state of California. To kick it off, we thought we’d throw out a couple limited beers and are adding Veritas 016, Veritas 017, and Veritas 018. As well as Framboise de Amorosa, Cuvee de Tomme, Deliverance and some other goodies. These bottles will be limited by brand per person, with each beer having very small case totals.Be on the lookout each month as we’ll add new bottles to purchase at shop.lostabbeydev.wpengine.com

The Lost Abbey to Release Ex Cathedra - Barrel-Aged Quad Ale with Orange, Ginger, and Spices

San Marcos, CA, -- The Lost Abbey will be releasing a new addition to its barrel-aged portfolio, Ex Cathedra.Ex Cathedra, the power of the Pope to speak with infallibility was the inspiration behind this new creation. The mysticism behind this rarely invoked power, held in check only by the appointed ones dedication to morality and restraint. A deep contemplative beer with a seldom-used combination of flavors and spices was needed.Beginning with a base of The Lost Abbey’s Belgian-Inspired Quadruple Judgment Day, Ex Cathedra was aged in Bourbon barrels for over 12 months before being spiked with Orange Peel, Ginger, and spices.“We really enjoyed the blending process for Ex Cathedra,” said Jonathan Somera, Quality Manager of The Lost Abbey. “The fruit notes and spices help create a layered and nuanced beer that should age quite nicely.”Aromas of sweet orange peel, bourbon, and licorice from the Star Anise leading to flavors of sweet bourbon, hints of cocoa and a smooth finish with a slight bite of ginger.Ex Cathedra will be available throughout the Lost Abbey Distribution Network in 375ml caged and corked bottles as well as draft.About Port Brewing / The Lost Abbey / The Hop ConceptFounded in 2006, The Lost Abbey produces an extensive line-up of continental and American- inspired ales and lagers. Carnevale Ale from The Lost Abbey - February 2017

San Marcos, CA, -- Brewed in celebration of Lent and the Easter season each year, Carnevale, The Lost Abbey’s Brett Saison, was released this month.Winner of the Gold Medal at the 2008 Great American Beer Festival (Belgian and French Style Ale), as well as a Gold Medal and Best in Show award at the San Diego International Beer Competition (French and Belgian Style Ale), Carnevale, continues to be one of The Lost Abbey’s most sought after beers.“Carnevale has always been one of those “fun” beers to drink”, said Steve Burchill, Lead Brewer at The Lost Abbey. “Such a simple and refreshing beer yet has layers of complexity from the Brett throughout”.A light-bodied Saison with additions of Amarillo and Simcoe hops, Carnevale is bottle conditioned with Brettanomyces. Beginning with a moderately spicy nose with hints of tropical fruits, toasted biscuits and a slight sweetness with a moderate hop presence, the Brett brings a level of funk and dryness on the back end. A beer meant to be cellared, Carnevale’s complexity grows with time as the citrus notes tend to wane and the wild yeast takes over.To celebrate the release, The Lost Abbey will once again hold it’s Carnevale de Masquerade Party, Saturday, February 25th at the brewery in San Marcos. Complete with Creole cuisine, beads and masks, Carnevale de Masquerade is a free event happening from 6 pm to 10 pm.Carnevale Ale hit full distribution the week of February 6thAbout Port Brewing / The Lost Abbey / The Hop ConceptFounded in 2006, The Lost Abbey produces an extensive line-up of continental and American- inspired ales and lagers. San Marcos, CA, -- First released last year, Santo Ron Diego will make another appearance, this time with a slightly different flavor profile with the addition of Cherries, Vanilla, and Cacao nibs.Aged in Rum barrels for 14 months, Santo Ron Diego starts with a base of a dark strong ale, brewed specifically to contrast and accentuate the sweetness of the Rum barrels. Santo Ron Diego is then rested on Cherries, Vanilla beans, and Cacao nibs.“Getting a chance to work with rum barrels again has been quite an adventure” said Tomme Arthur, COO and Co-founder of The Lost Abbey. “We were really happy with last year’s version but we wanted to add a bit more complexity to help bring the rum notes out with this year’s batch.”Santo Ron Diego begins with a bouquet of Cherries, Vanilla and sweet oak that leads to burst of flavor on the palate. Dark bakers chocolate, sweet cherry and warming vanilla with just a hint of coconut, Santo finishes with smooth hints of sweet-spiced rum.Santo Ron Diego with Cherries, Vanilla, and Cacao Nibs, at 13.5% ABV, will be available throughout the Lost Abbey distribution network beginning in December.
